Tonglen Sunday with Lama Yeshe

  • Kagyu Sukha Chöling 109 Clear Creek Drive Ashland, OR, 97520 United States (map)

ONE SUNDAY EVERY MONTH FROM 9:00-11:30 AM

Join us for a special Tonglen Sunday on October 5th!

Local scholar Dr. Paul Condon will join Lama Yeshe to lead the Tonglen meditation of loving kindness and compassion. They will also share a teaching on that topic for this first Sunday of the KSC teaching year.

Dr. Condon, who teaches at Southern Oregon University, has just published How Compassion Works with co-author John Makransky. This book explores the impact of empathy and compassion in our human experience, based on centuries of meditation experience, as well as modern research in psychology.

How Compassion Works will be available for viewing and sale during this event.

The foundational perspective of Tonglen practice is to consider all beings as our kin, because we and all beings share the wish to be happy and avoid suffering. From that common perspective, we aspire to utilize our natural great heart of compassion to relieve beings of suffering and bring them genuine happiness.

The guided Tonglen meditation begins with consideration and transformation of our own sufferings, and moves us outward to encompass the reality of others’ situation.

Join in-person or via Zoom (hybrid). Please contact the office to receive our monthly emails and the Zoom link for this practice: OFFICE@KSCASHLAND.ORG

Tonglen Sunday Practices will resume in the fall. You can listen to past teachings on the “Recordings” page:
